In 2011, Inka Schubert was part of the team at her former training company who was involved in the reconstruction of Josef Albers' spectacular stained glass windows for the main staircase of the Grassi Museum.

Today, she works part-time at the renowned glass manufacturer F. Schneemelcher in Quedlinburg, which leaves her also time for her own independent work. Here, she takes on challenging tasks in the field of glass processing in the areas of restoration, reconstruction and redesign – church windows, Art Nouveau windows and modern architectural glass design, as well as the design of independent curtain walls.

With great professional enthusiasm and expertise, Inka Schubert is dedicated to a millennia-old craft that has remained young, and she is happy to accept commissions.

In 2000, the furniture designer took over a workshop area of the cotton spinning mill Leipzig in order to realise his furniture designs in wood.

Since 2011, he has also been exhibiting the works of artisans friends of him in this charming ambience under the label Black and White Design. Torsten Franke is a trained piano maker who began his apprenticeship in 1980 at the Blüthner company and is still working there today, now only part-time.

He is interested in the interplay of construction, design and function, which characterises his own collection of furniture and lamps, which is remarkable in terms of craftsmanship and design.

The goldsmith and jewellery designer Dörte Dietric places the inexhaustible wealth of forms and colours of the world of plants at the centre of her work.

The continuous process of becoming and passing away in its various stages of development is her source of inspiration and determines her formal approach.

Capsules and calyxes as well as embossed, chiselled and enamelled forms driven from the surface grow in pieces of jewellery into new abstract sculptural formations with a floral character, sometimes in pure silver, sometimes in the intense, coloured melt of enamel.

Ceramic artist Claudia Biehne calls her sculptures, on which abstract, artificial clusters and structures form, “Between the Tides.” The seductiveness of these visual works of magic is heightened by the tactile horror of transparently sharp edges.

“Lumos,” “Growth,” “Volcanoids,” and “Time and Visibility” are other groups of works based on her deep fascination with natural growth and becoming, which she expresses through her generous use of materials.

Thanks to the successful division of labour with her partner Stefan Passig, her multifaceted handicrafts reaches an international audience.

Anne Deuter's artist's books are striking for their concentrated, conceptual composition.

Her own brief texts about self-observations of the weather or childhood memories find their counterpart in laconic typography, special papers, graphic blind embossing, refined folds, unusual bindings, protective flaps, banderoles or slipcases.

Each of the hand-sized gems is an intimate, outwardly closed, poetic work of art that does not reveal every secret even when opened.

„Rothöll“, the name of her manufacture of bags and accessories made of fish-leather was composed by the founder Annekatrin Döll from "roð", the Icelandic word for "fish-leather" and her family name "Döll".

Today, fish seems to be a very unusual source for leather production. But already the indigenous peoples of Alaska and Siberia developed methods to make extremely durable and supple leather from fish skin.

„Rothöll“ follows this ecologically and fashionably attractive principle of transforming industrial remains of the fishing industry into luxurious, durable and beautiful leather goods.
