After 10 years as independent product and furniture designers, Sarah Meinert and Andreas Mikutta joined their forces in 2025 and founded the company MISKA MIKUTTA. Both are trained carpenters/joiners and studied wood design/product and object design at the Angewandte Kunst Schneeberg.

‘Wood is always our starting material and the basis of our work. Sometimes it remains completely pure, with the focus on the strength, smell and tactility of the material. But we often add colour, textiles or metals, depending on the sensuality we want to express.’

The designs and works of MISKA MIKUTTA are always related to their surroundings. Whether striking and distinctive or subtle and understated, this depends on the atmosphere of the rooms.

The product designer Daniel Böttcher works with wood and textile materials in many different ways. Under his label formverleih®, founded in 2012 together with the textile designer Marlene Schroeder, he develops furniture and living room accessories.

In addition to the products for his label, he also designs furniture and spatial concepts for the public sector and for furniture manufacturers. Furthermore, he works together with external designers and artists on various projects.

His objects combine traditional manufacturing methods and innovative design language, attention to detail and simple charm.

In 2000, the furniture designer took over a workshop area of the cotton spinning mill Leipzig in order to realise his furniture designs in wood.

Since 2011, he has also been exhibiting the works of artisans friends of him in this charming ambience under the label Black and White Design. Torsten Franke is a trained piano maker who began his apprenticeship in 1980 at the Blüthner company and is still working there today, now only part-time.

He is interested in the interplay of construction, design and function, which characterises his own collection of furniture and lamps, which is remarkable in terms of craftsmanship and design.
